CHRISTIN ANN JAMISON

My name is Christin Ann Jamison and I was born February 29, 1988.  I have a little brother, Seth.  He's four. He begs me to play Barbies with him. He does pretty well but sometimes he gets rough.  He pulled the head off Stacia's Barbie.

We live in Murray but sometimes we come to Osceola and stay with Grandma (Celeste Jackson).  It is fun to stay with Grandma.  She has a dog, Wilma. I taught her tricks.  I get her to play tag and come up on the bench.  If I tell her to walk with me, she does that.  Then I say, "Run" and she runs. If I say, "Run" too many times she will run around and around the house. One time she knocked me down on my back and then climbed up on me and looked in my face. Sometimes I lie down and look at the clouds and Wilma comes over and puts her paw on my heart to see if I am still breathing.

I go lots of places in the car with Grandma but I won't ride in the front seat because of the danger of the extra air bag.  We learned that in school and I also hear it on television.

I go to Murray school.  I am in 3rd grade.  My teacher is Mrs. Flaherty and she is real nice.  I had Mr. Boldon last year and I call him when I come to Osceola.

I ride the bus to school but it isn't very far.  I leave home at 7:50.  The bell rings and we have to be in the classroom by 9:00. Before then we have time to play.  I usually walk around the school building.  My favorite person to do that with is Sarah.  She lives really close to me.  We also have time to get ready for school, putting our lunch tickets in the basket, sharpening pencils and things like that.  We don't have recess but we have some time after lunch while the 4th graders eat.

(Celeste remarked about the pride in the Murray school system.  There is a good relationship between teachers and students and between teachers and parents.  The family had attended a Christmas music program and Mr. Carper, the principal, had been the one who helped make a place for Jill's wheel chair.)

My favorite subject in school is music.  We have it every Tuesday and Friday and Mrs. Smich is our teacher.  We work with computers on Tuesday mornings.  We can type or do whatever we want.  We can type stories and make pictures.  I like to write. The last time I started a story I was thinking of a cd rom that Grandma got me. It wasn't the one she intended to get,
but it was about Yellowstone.  It tells all about grizzly bears and black bears.  So I wrote my story about bears.  So far it is just facts and I am going to do pictures.

I wouldn't write a scary story about bears because one time we went to a zoo.  It is at Mt. Ayr and these people have bears and goats with long ears. They have deer, fox, and tigers. They have baboons and one of them started to scratch his behind.  Then they have cages with animals.  They had a ferret and we named it Snowball II because we had a cat named Snowball. You could buy food and feed the bears, and the mother bear kept trying to take away the father bear's food.

They had mules, too, and, when we went past, one was trying to get into the car and Grandma tried to back out to get away from him.

We also have social studies in school, and math, spelling, library, art, and guidance.  That class helps you get along with people. We watch movies and cartoons about other people.  I can say all 50 states. "Do it." "All 50 states."

I got a medal for reading in school.  Every grade got one if they didn't have someone who missed too many marks, like 4 out of 5. We almost missed because Tyler A. missed some books.

This Monday I am going to get three books out of the Library.  Mrs. Brown lays them out.  I read five out of five, and got a pen. Every month I get a free book for reading my books. I like all kinds of books, especially books with chapters.  When I go to bed I have been reading the new Children's Bible that Uncle Junior gave me and "Children Around the World."  I don't read to Seth because: he goes to bed too early. He goes to bed at 6:30.

When I am in Osceola with Grandma I go to church there.  I like church.  I like everybody.  One time I asked Uncle Todd if he would like a hug.  He said "Yes" and I said, "Then go to church.  That's where you get hugs."  One time when Ann Murr saw me there she had the whole congregation sing a song she said was my favorite, "Jesus Loves Me".

Every other weekend I get to spend with my father on the Jamison farm.  That is fun. Grandpa has lots of cows and a favorite part of being there is when I get to feed the calves that their mothers don't want to feed. I feed them with a bottle and sometimes I let them suck on my thumb. It feels funny.  It feels like it is going down their throat.  I get to do that when my cousin, Janelle, isn't there.  She is one year older than me.

In July, on the 4th, Dad is going to be getting married.  He will marry Katie.  I am well acquainted with her and she's nice, and so is Nicki.  That's her daughter and she must be about 15. She doesn't drive yet.  We are going to Missouri to an amusement park.

I also get to see my aunt and uncle, Emil and Rilma Mueller, when I go to the farm. She works at Better Homes and Gardens Realty.  They do lots of special things for me.  Uncle Todd does, too.  He lives at Mt. Ayr and I see him when I go to Grandma's and sometimes at the farm.

I see Uncle Tim a lot, too.  He is a pain, and he'll get me back for saying that.  He teases me and I pick on him. He lives in Osceola on Ayres Street where Grandpa used to live.  He is going to be married and I like Kim.  Their names sound alike.

Aunt LuAnn is Stacia's mother.  Stacia is the same age as Seth, four.   I cleaned the house for her because she didn't have time when she worked. She worked at LeAnn's and it made her sad when they closed.  I like to play with her puppy.  Her name is Emily.  One day she started chewing on my shirt but she didn't hurt it.

My cousins Dustin and Austin are teen-agers and I don't see them much.

The most fun I have in the summer is playing soft ball. Last year I was an outfielder, behind second base.  And I like to go bicycling. This summer Grandma is going to take us on a bike trail at Adel.  I was afraid we were going to have to ride our bikes there but Grandma says we will take them and just ride the trail.

I got rollerblades for my birthday and I am learning to rollerblade.   I am just doing it in the garage so far.  But I am getting better.

I like it when my mommy and I go out to eat, sometimes to Creston.  We go camping, too, at different parks.  We sleep in a tent and I am always the first one up.

Last summer we went to the carnival.  There was a new thing that had just gotten there and Junior took us.  It was a little roller coaster.  We were going down the hill real fast and Uncle Junior and I held on to each other.  I have a really nice family.
